Steve Jobs and his beloved Apple will always be associated with entrepreneurship and transformational technology. In Jobs’ last and now famous commencement address at Stanford University in 2005, his message of leadership was clear and concise. the new grads were riveted to his words as they resonated with their upcoming search for a lifelong mission. Jobs told them “…have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” As tomorrow’s world leaders, they were charged with expanding their quest towards the future because of the remarkable opportunities that awaited. GLR Tours also nurtures students to follow their hearts and their intuition. Today, knowledge is at your fingertips and the world is only a click or swipe away. Education has been turned upside down by technology. Now, it’s not about how much knowledge you have, but it’s how you use the knowledge that is at every fork in the road. Today’s generation will be defined by what you do with this gift that so many have longed to access.
More importantly, you are not limited to observing the world in virtual ways. You can experience the world hands on. Explore our incredible country and understand history in real time; discover how today’s incubators are about ideas and knowledge or travel; work hand in hand with a group of farmers building a sustainable life style; find excitement on a college campus; or simply travel to a place you have never visited before. Meeting new people and understanding their needs, customs, and culture will change your life forever for the better.
Mark Twain remarked, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it solely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” Accept Jobs’ challenge and have the courage to take new adventures.
So, now it’s your turn, your time to make a difference in your life and in your future as you reach toward places you have only dreamed of. They’ll stay with you for a lifetime. In “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, Dr. Seuss tells us:
“You’re off to great places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So… get on your way!”
Follow your passion and take our challenge to start the journey to the next part of your life. I will look for you in great places.
